Post-Op For Arestin

Before the anesthesia wears off, you may take an “over the counter” pain relief medication (Motrin, Tylenol).

Avoid eating until the anesthesia has completely worn off and the feeling has completely returned.

24 hours after the procedure, you may begin rinsing with warm salt water for any mild gum irritations. Use 1/2 teaspoon salt to an 8 oz. (1 cup) glass of warm water.

Do Not brush the treated area(s) for 12 hours or floss for 10 days following the placement of the antibiotic. Brush and floss all other areas as usual.

The only dietary instructions are to avoid NUTS, SHELL-TYPE FOODS, (such as popcorn), or anything with SMALL SEEDS.

Please avoid excessive sunlight or ultraviolet light during the Arestin treatment.

Arestin may decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills.
